Effective Date: June 8, 2026
At TheSportRadar, we are committed to delivering the most accurate, reliable, and timely sports news to our global audience. However, in the fast-paced environment of digital sports journalism, errors can sometimes occur.
When a mistake is made, we believe in radical transparency. We do not hide our errors; we correct them promptly and openly. This Correction Policy outlines how we handle factual inaccuracies and updates to our published content.
1. What Warrants a Correction?
We issue formal corrections for factual errors that impact the understanding of a story. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Incorrect match scores, statistics, or records.
-
Misidentifying a player, coach, or official.
-
Inaccurate quotes or misattributions.
-
Reporting a rumor or speculative event as a confirmed fact.
Note: Minor typographical errors, spelling mistakes, or formatting issues that do not change the factual meaning of the story are updated directly in the text without a formal correction note.
2. How We Display Corrections
When a factual error is identified and verified by our editorial team, we take the following steps:
-
Update the Text: We immediately amend the body of the article to reflect the accurate information.
-
Editor’s Note / Correction Notice: We append a clear “Correction” or “Update” note, typically at the bottom of the article. This note will state what the original error was, provide the correct information, and list the date and time the article was updated.
-
Example: “Correction (June 8, 2026): A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that [Player Name] scored three goals in the match. He scored two. The text has been updated to reflect the accurate statistics.”
-
-
Major Errors: If an error fundamentally alters the premise of a major news story, the Editor’s Note will be placed prominently at the top of the article.
3. Social Media Corrections
If incorrect information from our website was shared across our social media platforms (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram), we will ensure the correction is also communicated there.
-
If a post contains a minor factual error, we will issue a reply or thread containing the corrected information.
-
If a post is entirely factually incorrect or violates our editorial standards, we will delete the original post and publish a new post explaining why the previous one was removed.
4. Retractions and Unpublishing
TheSportRadar does not “unpublish” or quietly delete articles simply because they contained errors. We believe the public record should remain intact.
We will only issue a full retraction or remove an article in extreme circumstances, such as:
-
The entire premise of the article is proven to be false or fabricated.
-
The content violates copyright laws or our strict zero-tolerance plagiarism policy.
-
The article contains inadvertently published sensitive or legally restricted information.
In the rare event of a retraction, the original article URL will remain live, but the content will be replaced with an Editor’s Note explaining the reason for the retraction.
5. Right of Reply
If a person or organization mentioned in one of our reports believes their position has been misrepresented or that vital context has been omitted, we offer a “Right of Reply.” We will review the claims and, if justified, update the article to include their perspective or issue a clarification.
6. How to Report an Error
We rely on our dedicated community of sports fans to hold us accountable. If you believe you have found a factual error in our reporting across Cricket, NFL, NBA, Soccer, or any other coverage area, please let us know immediately.
